Inder Sandhu is a globally recognized animal welfare strategist, author, and the founder of Peedu’s People, a prominent NGO based in the Tricity region. Originally a mechanical engineer with an MBA in Marketing, Sandhu spent years in the corporate world before a profound personal transformation shifted his focus toward the front lines of animal rights. This transition was sparked by a life-altering bond with his dog, which helped him navigate a period of deep personal struggle and opened his eyes to the immense suffering and systemic neglect faced by animals in India.
Drawing on years of international experience, Sandhu served as a certified Animal Control Officer and Animal Cruelty Investigator in Texas, USA. During his time there, he worked within the legal system to investigate abuse, perform animal forensics, and enforce strict cruelty laws.

his unique background allowed him to return to India with a professional, law-enforcement-oriented approach to animal welfare, bridging the gap between high-level international standards and local grassroots activism.
Through his NGO, Sandhu focuses on sustainable solutions for human-animal conflict rather than temporary fixes. He is a vocal advocate for Mass Vaccination and Sterilization (ABC) programs, which he argues are the only scientific ways to control rabies and the street dog population. Beyond field work, his organization is heavily invested in “Humane Education,” conducting workshops in schools to teach the next generation empathy and safety around animals. He believes that fostering compassion for animals is a gateway to creating more inclusive and empathetic human societies.
As a dedicated Vegan, Sandhu’s philosophy extends beyond mere rescue work to a critique of the industries that exploit animals for utility. He frequently speaks out against illegal backyard breeding and the hidden cruelties of the dairy industry, urging a shift toward a lifestyle that respects the autonomy of all living beings. His literary work, most notably his memoir Between the Knife and the Sock, chronicles his journey from the corporate world to animal activism, cementing his status as a thought leader and a true “Alpha Personality” dedicated to social and environmental reform.
